10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Navigating eMaryland Marketplace
What exactly is eMaryland Marketplace? Opportunities in the state contracting marketplace are advertised on eMaryland Marketplace. Vendors who want to compete in this arena must register (for free) on this electronic bid board system in order to receive solicitation notices, search for contracting opportunities, submit bids, and obtain bid results. Join us for an in-depth look at how to navigate this valuable tool and make it work for your company. Please bring pen and paper to take notes.

Our special guest is Cristen Ervin, Training and Outreach Coordinator with the Maryland Department of General Services. She authored many of the eMaryland Marketplace User Guides in place today.

Who should attend? Small business owners who are ready and able to perform on state-funded contracts.

There is no cost to attend.
Seating is limited and advance registration is required.
Bring a pen and paper to take notes.
Free parking and guest WiFi are available on-site.

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM The Art of the Side Hustle
If you’re trying to make a big change or just need some extra cash, a hustle can help you build a foundation to move on to something else. If you love your day job, that’s great too—the hustle will provide a creative outlet and a backup plan.  It’s also fun. Starting a side hustle is like “playing entrepreneurially” without making a huge commitment. This class teaches students how to maintain work/life balance, find a niche, test feasibility, and create a simple business plan and strategy, while preventing the major pitfalls associated with starting a new venture on your own. The course will also assist with the creation of simple financial projections to ensure your side hustle is worth your time.
Frederick County
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM State Procurement 101
New to state contracting? Start at the beginning. This class is for small businesses that have little or no knowledge of the state procurement process. We'll focus on common procurement terminology, examine how the state contracting arena operates, and provide resources to help you determine if pursuing work in the public sector would be beneficial to your company. Please bring pen and paper to take notes.

Who should attend? Small business owners who want to assess the state contracting arena and gain a better understanding of the procurement process.
