A partnership between the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights and Maryland Nonprofits. How can I be business appropriate during holiday times without excluding people who may not celebrate a particular holiday or who have other traditions? What kind of religious accommodations am I required to make for my employees? These are just a few of the questions commonly asked by organizations and workplaces around the topic of religion and faith in the workplace.The Maryland Commission on Civil Rights will lead an interactive workshop on religious, spiritual and cultural traditions and practices that may impact the workplace, such as leave requests for holidays and commemorations, worship and prayer practices, as well as clothing and food requirements. Learn how to accommodate employees of various religious and cultural beliefs. Get tips on how to be inclusive and business appropriate and learn how the Maryland State law applies to employers. This session includes an in-depth discussion on the 5 major religions in Maryland and the U.S.Learning Objectives: By the end of the session, participants will: Know and have a better understanding of the five major religious groups in Maryland.Know why religious accommodation is important in the workplace.Be able to give examples of religious discrimination in the workplace.Understand the concepts of undue hardship and de minimis cost/burden.Provide examples of best practices for preventing and responding to religious discrimination and harassment in the workplace.Ticket Prices: Maryland Nonprofits Members $25  Maryland Equity and Inclusion Leadership Program Participants: FreeNon-Members: $50Nonprofit Development Center Participants: FREEMaryland Nonprofits is committed to making our events fully accessible.
