The Maryland State Archives is hosting a series of public programming called Brown Bag Lunch and Learn. Once a month, the Archives will hold an informal, free talk in their conference room open to the general public where Archives' staff members will share different aspects of their jobs and ongoing projects. 

Our December talk will be given by Elaine Rice Bachmann, Deputy State Archivist, and is titled The USS Maryland Silver Service:  A State Treasure.  This illustrated talk will share the intricate beauty of the USS Maryland Silver Service on permanent loan from the US Navy.  This striking forty-eight piece set was designed and executed by Samuel Kirk and Sons of Baltimore in 1906.  The work depicts 167 scenes from the history of Maryland's 23 counties and Baltimore City, and many beautiful pieces are on display in the Maryland State House.  The talk will be held on Wednesday, December 2nd at noon.
