12:00 AM - 2:00 AM Listen, Lead, Share: Central Region

Join Morgan CARES, the Maryland Clean Energy Center, and local organizations to learn about how you can save on your energy bills, reduce energy consumption, and get involved in clean energy practices. Together, we will:

  • Listen to community concerns regarding home energy, affordability and accessibility issues.
  • Lead a discussion in reducing energy consumption and eliminating barriers.
  • Share resources with community members on understanding your energy bill, financing energy efficient home improvements, and increasing access to clean energy programs.

Let’s join forces to empower communities, ignite ideas, and build a brighter, more sustainable future.

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Recycling Works: Gain Community Support by Telling the Real Story - webinar
It’s been in the papers recently … “Recycling Is Broken!” “Plastic Recycling Is a Fraud!” “Are We Really Recycling?” Inaccurate media stories are causing Americans to lose faith in our recycling programs, lowering participation and tonnages. And the web is awash in posts that offer misleading “statistics” around actual recycling practices, rates and results.

The truth is our curbside recyclables are going to end markets; our residents are making a difference when they put their recyclables on the curbside; and despite issues of contamination and market fluctuations, municipal curbside recycling is an invaluable source of paper, plastic, metal, and glass recyclables for a wide variety of products.

So what's a recycling advocate to do? How can we get people to believe us when we’re telling the truth?
