10:00 AM - 1:00 PM Tree Planting - Loch Raven Fishing Center

Help us plant trees for cleaner air and water in Baltimore County!

Do you like being outside in nature and getting your hands in some soil? Join us and make a difference for future generations by planting trees!

More than 40,000 trees have been planted throughout the Gunpowder Watershed by enthusiastic volunteers over the past 36 years, and we need YOUR help to plant even more!

A maximum of 40 people, including GVC staff and volunteer leaders, will be allowed to participate in this event. We are allowing minors (ages 8 – 17) to attend our events as long as there is one parent/legal guardian per four children in attendance.

5:30 PM - 7:00 PM SPRING 2025 GROW Center - Baltimore City

EARTH DAY Event & Pop-up @ The Urban Oasis (2131 N Dukeland St, 21216) In partnership with The Urban Oasis, stop by and enjoy live salsa music, cultural expositions and get some great resources to help you with your greening projects

DPW’s Spring GROW Center season will feature five pop-up events and six free workshops. Attend one of the upcoming activities and get some great resources to help with your greening projects. Free trees, mulch, seeds, and reusable shopping bags will be available, as well as information on stormwater fee credits, plant advice, recycling and composting, adopt-a-lot, and other ways to make your home and community greener, cleaner, and more resilient. First come, first serve while supplies last.

The following is the schedule for GROW Center events. Please note the times for each event. The workshops are FREE but require registration. In-person workshops have limited space availability. Compost workshop attendees will receive a compost bin, courtesy of DPW Bureau of Solid Waste.

5:30 PM - 7:00 PM State of the Rivers: Sassafras & Bayside Creeks

Save the date for our highly anticipated State of the Rivers events — a series of free presentations held each spring to inform public about the current state of our Eastern Shore waterways.

Each year, between April—October, ShoreRivers’ professional Riverkeepers conduct weekly tidal sampling of sites from Cecilton to Cambridge, then test for multiple scientific water quality parameters including dissolved oxygen, nutrient pollution, algae, and clarity. These indicators reveal the overall health of our waterways and our progress toward protecting and restoring our local rivers. ShoreRivers, statewide groups, and national agencies use this information to track trends, develop remediation strategies, advocate for stronger laws and enforcement, alert the public of potential health risks, and inform region-wide efforts toward clean water goals.

6:00 PM - 7:30 PM Climate Action Plan (CAP) Public Meeting - Charles County
Join us for the upcoming public meetings focused on the Climate Action Plan. Enjoy snacks and refreshments, participate in activities and engaging stations, and learn more about Climate Action strategies for Charles County! This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow community members, discuss important climate initiatives, and explore various volunteer opportunities. Whether you're passionate about sustainability or just curious to learn more, there's something for everyone. Don't miss out on this chance to make a positive impact and have fun!
