Strathmore's Forest Restoration Celebration

Event Description:
Join Rock Creek Conservancy to celebrate the completion of the forest restoration project at Strathmore. This project restored the fragmented forest and shrub thickets bordering the Strathmore Mansion and its traditional landscapes, showcasing the potential for healthy natural areas in developed spaces. Through a multi-year effort led by Rock Creek Conservancy and it's summer youth employment program, invasive plants were removed and native trees and shrubs were planted to rebuild a healthier forest ecosystem. After brief remarks from project partners and funders, stay for a guided walking tour of the restoration site to see the transformation firsthand and learn about invasive species removal, native plantings, and the benefits of healthy urban forests.
