12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Investing in Clean Water: "Pay-for-Performance" Based Approaches to Watershed Restoration - virtual

For years, states, localities and stakeholders have focused on implementing Best Management Practices (BMPs) to reduce nutrient inputs to Chesapeake Bay. While this strategy has yielded some successes, it has prioritized process over outcomes, leading to inconsistent results across the watershed. Now, new programs are flipping the script. These innovative "pay-for-performance" models are transforming clean water investments by rewarding results instead of effort.

Join us on Wednesday, May 21st from noon to 1pm to learn how Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia are using performance-based strategies to incentivize greater water quality outcomes.

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Stormwater Management - virtual
Stormwater runoff originates during precipitation events when water flows over the ground. Hard surfaces such as streets and rooftops increase runoff by preventing water from soaking into the ground. Water running over these hard surfaces can pick up sediment, chemicals, debris, and toxins which are carried to local streams. These pollutants prevent waterways from being fishable and swimmable. Learn about ways to manage stormwater at your home and community.
