12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Engaged Communities: A Closer Look at the Proposed Goal - Virtual
Building a healthier Chesapeake Bay depends on informed, active and empowered communities. This webinar will explore the proposed Goal from the revised Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement, which focuses on fostering environmental stewardship at all levels. Topics will include growing a strong environmental workforce, supporting local and student stewardship experiences, encouraging school district environmental planning and elevating local leadership. Join us to learn about the proposed revisions for each outcome, why these updates are being proposed and how they compliment and build off of their 2014 Watershed Agreement goals and what is new for the public to watch out for (new Workforce Outcome!).
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Connecting with Community: Community Engagement 101 - virtual
Successful community projects require local input and strong support from multiple stakeholders, especially community members. To solicit the best community input, project leaders must be intentional and creative in how they gather feedback. Replacing a dull, public hearing with an interactive experience is going to attract more attendees and lead to better community engagement. Ensuring that all voices are heard fosters ownership and continued involvement in a project beyond the first meeting. Communities can move forward with all stakeholders as a team of equal players working toward a shared vision. Opting out of the typical meeting structure breaks down barriers between the public, municipal leaders, and other stakeholders, strengthening collaboration and unity even after the project is completed. Join Mid-Atlantic TAB for best practices and discussions around what successful, genuine, community engagement looks like and how to use it throughout the brownfield redevelopment process.
