Join the Center for Watershed Protection and the UMD Environmental Finance Center for a workshop designed to help community-based organizations identify and pursue funding opportunities for watershed restoration and green infrastructure projects in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed region of western Maryland. The workshop will provide an overview of available grant programs, and attendees will learn how to apply for and manage these grants. The workshop will also explore what makes a strong restoration or green infrastructure project and will include tips for identifying project sites, building partnerships for project implementation, and planning for long-term maintenance. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of how they can fund their project ideas and how they can take advantage of available technical assistance to support their grant application efforts.

The property located at 10500 Wills Mountain Rd in Cumberland, Allegany County, Maryland has been accepted into Maryland’s Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCP). A proposed response action plan (RAP) has been submitted to the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) for approval. Site investigations have determined that soil at discreet locations have been impacted by TPH-DRO, PCB, and mercury at concentrations requiring remediation. The proposed remedial technology includes the excavation and offsite disposal of contaminated soil. This RAP is based upon future use of the property for unrestricted High Frequency Recreational (Tier 4B) purposes.
