Event Description: From natural disasters like the Derecho in 2012, to human-caused emergencies like the Orlando nightclub shooting in June 2016, the best lesson learned is to be prepared. While we hope such events never happen in our backyards, the Montgomery County Police Department, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services and the Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security have created a community emergency preparedness class to enable families to prepare for disasters at home. Attendees will learn how to respond to specific hazards such as: Fires Active Assailant(s) Medical Emergencies Bomb Threats Severe Storms, Floods, Earthquakes, Hurricanes and Tornadoes Registration for attendance at any of the classes is required and seating will be limited to 75 people, so please register early to reserve your seat. There is no cost for these classes, and based on community interest and feedback, future classes will be provided around the county. We look forward to seeing you! |
