Disabilities & Reasonable Accommodations in the Workplace
(Hosted in ANNAPOLIS at the MD Department of Agriculture)
October is Disability Awareness Month and we are commemorating by offering a FREE, interactive training workshop, sponsored by the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights!
The workshop includes an in-depth review of applicable disability-related laws and reasonable accommodations in the workplace. We will discuss relevant statistics, current trends as well as appropriate etiquette, language and behavior when interacting with persons with disabilities. This engaging workshop is packed full of helpful info and is open to the public! *Ideal for employers, managers, supervisors, human resource and employee relations staff in the private, non-profit and public sectors.
Workshop content includes:
Applicable Laws & Definitions
Reasonable Accommodations Info (discussion of requests, documentation, verification of documentation, what is and is not required by the employee and the employer, etc.)
Exclusions Under Federal Law
Elements of a Prima Facie Employment Discrimination Case & Possible Defenses for Employers
Current Case Law & Common Workplace Scenarios
Best Practices for Inclusive Workplaces, Appropriate Language and Information to Better Understand Common Mental & Physical Disabilities in the Workplace

PARKING IS FREE - once on Truman Parkway, go about 1/2 mile and turn right at the second cow statue to MDA Headquarters visitor parking lot. Check in with the receptionist in the building and training will be in the lower level conference rooms.
