EPA Tools & Resources Webinar Tire Crumb Research
Start Date: 4/17/2024Start Time: 3:00 PM
End Date: 4/17/2024End Time: 4:00 PM
Event Description:
In 2016, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (CDC/ATSDR) and the EPA, in collaboration with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, launched a multi-agency research effort to address public concerns about exposures of athletes to tire crumb. The effort is known as the Federal Research Action Plan on Recycled Tire Crumb Used on Playing Fields and Playgrounds (FRAP). This webinar, co-presented by EPA and ATSDR, will focus on the Tire Crumb Exposure Characterization (Part 2), which completes the EPA/ATSDR work with respect to playing fields. The presentation will cover the various activities associated with this report, which were a pilot-scale exposure study including collection of field, personal, and biomarker samples for indicators of exposures; questionnaire and video-based activity assessments; exposure modeling assessments; and a supplemental biomonitoring study completed by ATSDR.
