Event Description: Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) is a voluntary food safety certification program for farmers who produce fresh fruit and vegetables. This GAPs class will be tailored towards urban farmers and farmers who direct-market their produce.
The morning will be a classroom session. In the afternoon we will visit Whitelock Community Farm to hear about their journey towards GAP certification and see how MDA staff would conduct a farm audit for the GAPs certification process.
Participation is capped at 25, so please register online at http://ter.ps/urbangaps17
The fee for the program is $15 and will cover lunch and refreshments. All other costs are covered by a NIFA USDA grant (award #2016-70017-25503).
Future Harvest Beginning Farmer Trainees should contact Sarah Sohn sarah@futureharvestcasa.org for a sponsored registration code.
One work-study scholarship is available for a participant willing to arrive early to help. To apply please contact Neith Little by August 22. |
